However, there are three different types of investments that I offer:
Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs)
When you buy a GIC you are agreeing to lend your money to a bank or financial institution for a specified number of years in exchange for interest payments. At the end of the term you are guaranteed your principle plus interest. However, if you take your money out before the term you may have to pay penalties.
Segregated Funds
A segregated fund also known as a deferred variable annuity is a pool of investments held by an insurance company. This type of investment offers a death benefit guarantee, bypasses probate, and offers creditor protection.
Mutual Funds
A mutual fund is a company that pools money from different investors. Funds are invested in stocks, bonds and short-term investments and make up what is known as a portfolio.
